Krishna is a micro-entrepreneur who manages the Domlur Kartavya Dry Waste Collection Centre in Bangalore. From humble beginnings, Krishna dropped out of school as a teenager and took to wastepicking to support his family. He now provides jobs for 8 people as drivers, loaders and sorters, who retrieve over 15 tons of dry recyclable waste every month. He is one of the founding members of Hasiru Dala, a wastepicker organization in Bangalore, that focuses on integrating wastepickers in the solid waste management system of Bangalore city Corporation, BBMP. Krishna was also a part of the team that won the REimagiNEWaste hackathon at IISc in April 2016 for developing the Waste Samaritan app, that helps monitor the waste segregation level at homes.
