Germany’s energy supply is undergoing a transformation. With the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2045 and diversifying the energy supply, the expansion of renewable energy is at the heart of German climate and security policy.
However, the way in which hydrogen and its derivatives are produced is crucial. In transitioning to a sustainable hydrogen economy, the focus should not only be on reducing CO emissions, but also on taking a holistic sustainability approach that considers other ecological factors, such as the sustainable use of water, as well as social and economic aspects. Ultimately, good governance is needed to ensure that these sustainability factors are put into practice.
This course complements the existing Power-to-X course at the WWF Academy.
